Edifier at IFA 2026: New Monitors, Compact Bass, and ANC Headphones
Edifier is bringing room calibration, compact subwoofer muscle, and a more ambitious wireless headphone to IFA 2026. For anyone building an audio system around a desk, a small room, or a sensible budget, there is plenty here to examine.
The company is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a broad display in Berlin, including the XR6 studio monitor, MW6T powered subwoofer, M90 powered speakers, and WH950NB Pro headphones. Its September 4 announcement also describes premium displays featuring S3000 MKII, AIRPULSE, and STAX SPIRIT, plus a HECATE gaming area.
IFA runs September 4–8 at Messe Berlin; if you will be there, Edifier’s booth H10.2-121. The show brings updated detail on an ongoing rollout: Edifier had already discussed the XR6 and M90 in its earlier CES 2026 coverage.
This is announcement coverage based on Edifier’s published information. Performance claims remain manufacturer claims; this article includes no hands-on listening or independent measurements of these products.
XR6: Room Calibration Is the Feature!
The room gets its due. Put a speaker close to a wall or on a reflective desk and the sound at your ears can change substantially. That makes the XR6’s calibration system useful for a home studio that also serves as a music system.
It’s a three-way active monitor with an aluminum enclosure and calibration combining onboard digital signal processing with dedicated PC software. Its IFA product overview lists balanced XLR and TRS inputs alongside RCA connections.
A three-way speaker divides bass, midrange, and treble among separate drivers. That gives the designer more freedom to control distortion and dispersion.
There is a parallel within Edifier’s own range. The MR5 already uses a three-way, tri-amplified design with manual room-compensation controls and app adjustments.
MW6T: A Small Subwoofer With a Practical Job
Compact speakers can make a convincing stereo image while still leaving the bottom octave wanting. A well-integrated subwoofer gives a small system a path to more complete bass, particularly when music and movies share the same setup.
Edifier’s IFA announcement mentions dual 6.5-inch woofers, 210 watts RMS, and room acoustic compensation for the MW6T. That is a useful outline, but it does not establish how deep the sub plays at a meaningful output level.
Wattage is only part of the story. Low-frequency extension, distortion, and output limits determine whether a sub handles demanding bass cleanly. I would also want to know exactly how its room compensation works and how much crossover and phase adjustment it provides. Those details matter when the goal is bass that blends with the main speakers.
M90: The $369.99 System-Builder
The M90 gives that subwoofer a natural companion. Edifier is highlighting the two together at IFA, and its U.S. store lists the M90 at $369.99 and in stock as of September 4.
The M90 specification includes 100 watts RMS total output, 4-inch aluminum mid-bass drivers, 1-inch silk-dome tweeters, HDMI eARC, USB-C, optical, AUX, and Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC. A dedicated subwoofer output provides an expansion path.
The appeal is that a powered stereo pair can handle a computer and a compatible television without adding a separate amplifier. Edifier says HDMI CEC enables TV-remote control of power, mute, and volume.
WH950NB Pro: Dual Drivers and Adaptive Noise Cancellation
The headphone announcement is substantial, too. Edifier lists 40mm and 10mm dynamic drivers, adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation using an eight-microphone system, and spatial audio with head tracking. Wearing detection, Smart-Chat, and a six-microphone AI call system round out the announced feature set.
The press release also notes Bluetooth 6.1 and a battery-life claim of up to 70 hours with ANC off. Actual endurance will depend on use.For commuting, I would put comfort, effective noise reduction, and call quality ahead of microphone counts or a Bluetooth version number.
What This Means for an Audiophile on a Budget
The engineering choices address real problems: speakers interacting with rooms, small systems running short of bass, and headphones competing with outside noise. For sure. The value question is how well each solution works for the money.
As of September 4, the official IFA pages reviewed here do not provide U.S. prices or shipping dates for the XR6, MW6T, or WH950NB Pro.
The XR6 is the one I most want to see measured, especially before and after calibration. The M90/MW6T combination makes sense as a compact system, while the WH950NB Pro needs to prove its comfort and noise cancellation in daily use.
