WiiM Launches the $479 WiiM Bar 3.0.2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar Alongside Presto Music and Plexamp Updates

After dominating the budget stereo streamer category with the WiiM Pro Plus and WiiM Ultra, Linkplay’s WiiM brand has officially shipped its first home theater centerpiece: the WiiM Bar ($479 USD). At the same time, a series of firmware and WiiM Home app updates (versions 3.6.8 and 3.6.9) have added native Presto Music streaming alongside headless Plexamp casting and built-in Squeezelite support for Lyrion Media Server (LMS) libraries.

3.0.2 Acoustic Array, 2.1-Inch Round Touchscreen & RoomFit

Measuring 41.7 inches wide (1,060 × 105 × 74 mm), the WiiM Bar houses eight active drivers (including dedicated upward-firing height transducers) assisted by four passive radiators in a physical 3.0.2-channel layout. Connected to a TV over HDMI eARC, the bar decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X alongside lossless Dolby TrueHD and multichannel LPCM.

Taking a visual cue from the WiiM Ultra streamer, the center of the front grille features a 2.1-inch round full-color LCD touchscreen that displays album artwork and touch presets. Automated RoomFit room correction measures acoustic reflections without requiring an external licensing fee, and owners can pair the bar wirelessly with the WiiM Sub Pro subwoofer and WiiM Sound smart speakers to expand into a full 5.1.2 surround system.

Presto Music, Headless Plexamp & Native Squeezelite

For two-channel and multi-room music listeners, WiiM’s October software updates deliver major quality-of-life upgrades across compatible WiiM streamers and amplifiers. Classical and jazz listeners gain direct access to Presto Music‘s high-resolution catalog up to 24-bit/192kHz inside the WiiM Home app.

Self-hosted media enthusiasts get two long-requested features: headless Plexamp integration (allowing direct casting from the Plexamp app with support for WiiM hardware presets) and native Squeezelite client functionality that connects directly to a local Lyrion Media Server (LMS) instance without needing a separate Raspberry Pi bridge.
