Technics EAH-A1000 Flagship ANC Headphones Scale Magnetic Fluid Drivers Up to 40mm for $449.99

Driver control, acoustic design and noise cancellation all matter in an over-ear headphone. With the new EAH-A1000 ($449.99 / £399 / €449), Technics took a transducer-first route instead—scaling up the magnetic fluid motor from its EAH-TZ700 and EAH-AZ100 in-ear models and combining it with cone and surround geometry borrowed directly from Technics’ Reference and Grand Class loudspeakers.

40mm Magnetic Fluid Drivers, Pure Carbon Fiber Cones, and SST

Following the EAH-A800 at the top of the company’s wireless headband lineup, the EAH-A1000 uses a newly developed 40 mm over-ear driver with magnetic fluid between its voice coil and magnet. Suspended between the voice coil and the magnet circuit, the magnetic fluid helps stabilize the voice coil and reduce unwanted movement and distortion.

Instead of a polymer film dome, the 40 mm diaphragm is formed from what Technics calls a non-composite, non-laminated “Pure Carbon Fiber” construction shaped into a loudspeaker-style cone, suspended at the perimeter by Technics’ Symmetrical Surround Technology (SST) edge to improve the symmetry of forward and backward movement. Technics notes that “Pure Carbon Fiber” does not mean the diaphragm consists exclusively of carbon fiber. Inside the earcup, a flat front baffle structure suppresses cavity reflections while a rear Acoustic Control Chamber regulates back-wave airflow.

8-Mic Adaptive ANC, Lossless USB-C Audio, and 3-Device Multipoint

Externally, the 306-gram (10.8-ounce) headphones swap traditional dual yokes for a single-sided metal Flow Arm that shifts from a square cross-section at the headband slider to a triangular profile at the earcup hanger, finished in Black or Platinum Greige with circular-machined metal top panels and physical buttons plus a tactile slide switch. Real-Time Adaptive Noise Cancelling uses eight microphones total—three feed-forward mics and one feedback mic per earcup—to adjust suppression based on ambient noise and ear-pad seal.

As detailed in the Technics EAH-A1000 operating documentation, wireless connectivity runs on Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC, LC3 (LE Audio), AAC, SBC, and simultaneous 3-device multipoint pairing. When you want a direct wired signal path, the EAH-A1000 supports lossless digital USB-C audio straight from a laptop, tablet, or phone, as well as analog listening via the bundled 1.2-meter USB-C to 3.5 mm cable. Both wired modes require the headphones to be powered on. Battery life is rated up to 45 hours with ANC on (90 hours ANC off) over AAC, or 40 hours with ANC on (80 hours ANC off) over high-bitrate LDAC.
