Aune Audio AR3000 Brings an Angled 50mm Dynamic Driver and 4.4mm Balanced Cable Down to $239

Budget open-back headphones under $300 often force buyers to choose between easy drivability and realistic front-to-back staging. Wuhan-based Aune Audio earned widespread praise with its $299 AR5000 open-back dynamic headphone by tilting the transducer at a steep angle inside the earcup. Now the company has introduced the more compact Aune AR3000 at $239, keeping the angled acoustic geometry alongside a low-impedance voice coil designed to run off portable dongles and desktop amplifiers alike.

Angled 50mm Dynamic Transducer & Multi-Vented Baffle

Inside each oval earcup sits a custom 50mm dynamic driver powered by a neodymium magnet assembly and an ultra-lightweight aluminum voice coil. Rather than firing straight into the side of the pinna like a conventional flat-baffle headphone, the AR3000 mounts its transducer on an angled baffle tilted to align with the natural contour of the human ear. That physical orientation reduces early reflections inside the earcup chamber while projecting vocal and instrumental images slightly forward of the listener.

Rear airflow exits through a concentric open-back grille engineered to control low-frequency damping without choking transient speed. Rated frequency response spans 5 Hz to 40,000 Hz, giving the driver clean sub-bass extension for an open-back dynamic design.

27-Ohm Impedance & Included 4.4mm Balanced Cable

Many reference open-back headphones still hover between 150 and 300 ohms, requiring a dedicated desktop amplifier to reach full dynamic swing. Aune tuned the AR3000 around a 27-ohm nominal impedance paired with 115 dB/Vrms sensitivity. That combination allows even a modest USB-C dongle DAC or portable digital audio player to drive the headphones with plenty of headroom.

Weighing roughly 300 grams, the chassis uses a perforated suspension headband strap to distribute weight evenly across long listening sessions. Dual 3.5mm TRS earcup jacks make cable swaps straightforward, and Aune includes both a 1.5-meter 3.5mm single-ended cable (with a 6.35mm adapter) and a 1.5-meter 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced cable right in the retail box.
