Revel Unveils Performa4 Series Loudspeakers With 7th-Gen Waveguides and Deep Ceramic Composite Drivers Starting at $1,999/Pair

In the passive loudspeaker world, very few product lines have enjoyed the staying power—or the measurement-bench credibility—of Revel’s Performa3 series. Introduced more than a decade ago, models like the M105 and M106 standmounts and the F206 and F208 floorstanders became perennial reference benchmarks for listeners who care about smooth on- and off-axis spinorama directivity without paying beryllium-tweeter prices. Now, to mark its 30th anniversary, HARMAN Luxury Audio has officially unveiled their ground-up successors: the Revel Performa4 Series.

Slotting directly below Revel’s PerformaBe range, the new lineup comprises six loudspeaker models—two 3-way floorstanding towers (Performa4 F346 and F345), two 2-way standmount monitors (Performa4 M146 and M145), a dual-woofer center channel (Performa4 C245), and a 750-watt 10-inch powered subwoofer (Performa4 B140)—plus matching MFS4 floor stands.

7th-Generation Acoustic Lens Waveguide, DCC Tweeters & MCC Woofers

Where the outgoing Performa3 family used standard anodized aluminum cones and domes, the Performa4 series brings Revel’s ceramic-composite transducer metallurgy down from the PerformaBe line. Every passive model in the Performa4 series uses a new 1-inch (25 mm) Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) dome tweeter mated to a 7th-generation cast-aluminum Acoustic Lens waveguide. Developed through plasma-electrolytic oxidation that converts the outer layers of an aluminum core into a rigid ceramic skin sandwiching a damped aluminum center, the DCC diaphragm pushes breakup modes well above the audible passband while the contoured waveguide matches the tweeter’s dispersion width to the midrange or woofer through the crossover region.

On the three-way floorstanding towers, the dedicated midrange driver also uses a Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) cone with an inverted surround that smooths out baffle-edge diffraction. Low frequencies across all five passive models are handled by Micro Ceramic Composite (MCC) cone woofers housed in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)-optimized cast-aluminum frames with high-order crossover networks that use air-core inductors and film capacitors in critical signal paths. Consistent with every speaker in Revel’s 30-year history, final voicing was validated in HARMAN’s Northridge, California double-blind listening facility alongside 360-degree anechoic spinorama measurements.

The Lineup: Floorstanders, Standmounts, Center & 750W Subwoofer

At the top of the range sits the Performa4 F346 ($6,999/pair), an 87.5-pound, dual-rear-ported 3-way tower uniting three 6.5-inch MCC woofers, a 6.5-inch DCC midrange, and the 1-inch DCC tweeter with crossovers at 275 Hz and 1.7 kHz for a -6 dB bandwidth of 30 Hz to 40 kHz and 88 dB sensitivity. For medium-sized rooms, the Performa4 F345 ($4,999/pair) applies the identical five-driver 3-way layout to a slimmer 11.9-inch-wide footprint using three 5.25-inch MCC woofers and a 5.25-inch DCC midrange (36 Hz–40 kHz, 87 dB sensitivity).

Two-channel standmount listeners get two rear-ported options that directly succeed the classic M105 and M106: the Performa4 M145 ($1,999/pair) with a 5.25-inch MCC woofer reaching down to 54 Hz (-6 dB), and the larger Performa4 M146 ($2,999/pair) with a 6.5-inch MCC woofer extending down to 43 Hz (-6 dB). Both bolt directly onto the optional MFS4 extruded-column floor stands ($699.95/pair), which include internal cable routing and adjustable carpet spikes.

Rounding out multi-channel and 2.1 systems are the Performa4 C245 ($1,499 each), a 2-way rear-ported center channel flanking the 1-inch DCC tweeter with dual 5.25-inch MCC woofers, and the Performa4 B140 ($2,999 each), a 61.3-pound rear-ported powered subwoofer pairing a 10-inch coated fiber-composite driver with a 750W RMS (1,500W peak) Class D amplifier reaching down to 26 Hz (-6 dB). All six enclosures feature curved, heavily braced cabinets finished in furniture-grade Natural Walnut or Black Walnut real-wood veneers with matte-black baffles and magnetically attached grilles.
